Beauty & Style: My Living Reflection

For me, beauty is not just in a lipstick shade or the way my curls fall—beauty is in the way I honor myself daily. It’s in the quiet moments of caring for my skin, wrapping my hair with intention, and choosing clothes that remind me I am worthy of softness and strength. Beauty is a ritual of self-love, a way of affirming who I am before I even step into the world.
Over the years, I’ve learned that my beauty thrives when I create rhythms that nourish me from the inside out. Here are some of the practices that ground me in that truth:
Weekly Gua Sha Ritual
Each week, I take time for gua sha on my face and body. The slow, intentional strokes not only help sculpt and detox my skin but also remind me to pause and release tension I didn’t even know I was holding.
Supplements for Glow
Hydration and good food are key, but I also make sure to take supplements that support my skin, hair, and energy. Vitamins and minerals are my behind-the-scenes beauty allies, keeping me radiant from the inside out.
Optimizing My Sleep
Sleep is non-negotiable for me. I recently invested in new bedding, a silk sleep mask, and cozy sheets that make winding down feel luxurious. Rest is beauty it restores me in ways no serum can.
Caring for My Hair
My hair thrives when I stay consistent:
Protein treatments once a week to keep my curls strong.
Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to keep dryness away.
A deep hair mask weekly to restore softness and shine.
And of course, wrapping my hair at night to protect it while I sleep.
For me, keeping my hair moisturized is not just maintenance, it’s an act of love.
Movement That Loves Me Back
I keep my body moving six days a week. Pilates, walking, and jogging are my favorites because they keep me strong, flexible, and energized. Lately, I’ve even been thinking about trying Tashi it feels good to keep exploring new ways to honor my body through movement.
Style as My Spirit Language
Style, for me, is more than trends it’s a language. Some days I speak boldly in vibrant colors, other days I whisper softly in muted tones. No matter how it shows up, my style is my spirit translated into fabric, texture, and flow. It shifts and grows with me, just as I continue to evolve into the woman I’m becoming.
A Living Legacy of Beauty
As Black women, our beauty and style have always been a beacon. We set the rhythm of culture, often without recognition, yet our influence continues to echo across generations. We are walking testaments that beauty is not just seen it’s felt.
